The Tobacco Free Columbia-Dane County Coalition (TFCDC) is one of thirteen Multi-Jurisdictional Coalitions (MJCs) funded by the Wisconsin Tobacco Prevention and Control Program.

Vision

A county free from tobacco-related death and disease.

Mission

The mission of the Tobacco Free Columbia-Dane County Coalition is to reduce tobacco-related disease and death by preventing the initiation of tobacco use among youth, promoting quitting among young people and adults, eliminating exposure to secondhand smoke, and identifying and eliminating tobacco related health disparities.

Program Components & Activities

Youth Prevention
  • Collaborate with schools to include and enhance tobacco-free policies
  • Enforce laws that restrict tobacco sales to minors;
  • Develop and promote youth-led advocacy initiatives through the Fighting Against Corporate Tobacco (FACT) program
  • Promote youth leadership skill development through Coalition Youth Advisory Board.

Tobacco Cessation
  • Provide tobacco cessation resources and referrals to community members interested in quitting;
  • Promote the Wisconsin Tobacco Quit Line and other local tobacco cessation resources.

Secondhand Smoke Education
  • Promote and support smoke-free environments
  • Promote and support the economic and health benefits of smoke-free workplaces;
  • Support community education programs that promote smoke-free home environments;
  • Implement community interventions that link tobacco control interventions with cardiovascular disease and asthma prevention.
