who we are

The Tobacco Free Columbia-Dane County Coalition (TFCDC) is one of thirteen Multi-Jurisdictional Coalitions (MJCs) funded by the Wisconsin Tobacco Prevention and Control Program.

A county free from tobacco-related death and disease.

The mission of the Tobacco Free Columbia-Dane County Coalition is to reduce tobacco-related disease and death by preventing the initiation of tobacco use among youth, promoting quitting among young people and adults, eliminating exposure to secondhand smoke, and identifying and eliminating tobacco related health disparities.

WI Wins was launched in the spring of 2002 as part of a comprehensive approach to preventing youth access to tobacco. TFCDC hires youth between the ages of 16-17 to conduct tobacco compliance checks throughout Columbia and Dane County to ensure retailers aren't selling tobacco products to minors.

Other Tobacco Products (OTP) and Nicotine Products Eduation
  • OTPs are all non-cigarette products that contain tobacco and nicotine, many of which are flavored and packaged like candy. In addition, they are much cheaper than cigarettes.
  • Nicotine products are products that contain only nicotine, and no tobacco. E-Cigarettes are an example.

  • Educate local/state policymakers on the continued importance of Wisconsin's Tobacco Prevention and Control Program.
  • Maintain a Coalition Advisory Board made up of 10 members who help with coalition activities/objectives.
  • Advocate for tobacco prevention and control funding.
