Program Overview

(No U.S. citizenship requirement)
  • Provides financial assistance for breast cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment for eligible women and men in Dane County
  • May provide temporary assistance for services to encourage follow through of treatment for individuals with breast cancer.
    Examples: bus tickets, taxi, utilities
  • Funded solely by Susan G Komen for the Cure – South Central Wisconsin
  • Choose from more than 25 area clinics for breast related services
  • Coordinated by the WI Well Woman Program office through Public Health – Madison & Dane County

Program Eligibility

(No U.S. citizenship requirement)

  1. No insurance or insurance with high deductible
  2. Income at or below 250% of Federal Poverty Guidelines
    • household size of 1 = $28,725
      household size of 2 = $38,775
      household size of 3 = $48,825
    • add $10,050 for each additional household member
  3. Not eligible for other financial assistance programs including but not limited to Medicaid, Medicare or BadgerCare

Examples of individuals who may be eligible

  • Women under 45 who do not qualify for WI Well Woman Program (WWWP)
  • Women over 45 who need breast services not covered by WWWP
  • Women who are not U.S. citizens with a breast cancer diagnosis who are not eligible for WI Well Woman Medicaid (WWMA)
  • Men who need breast/chest related services
  • Individuals with insurance who have had a breast cancer diagnosis and who, as a result of their diagnosis, have large outstanding medical bills

Covered Services

Financial assistance to eligible individuals for breast related services ONLY

Examples of services that may be covered:
  • Breast Exam
  • Mammogram
  • Breast Ultrasound
  • Breast MRI
  • Breast biopsy
  • Office Visits related to breast services
  • Breast Surgery
