Going somewhere out of the country? Prepare BEFORE you go. You should receive your immunizations 4-6 weeks before your travel. See what you may need at:
- Traveler's Vaccinations, CDC
- Besides immunizations there may be other prescriptions, and recommendations to keep you healthy while traveling
Where can I get travel immunizations?
You can log onto the Wisconsin Immunization Registry (WIR) to check your immunization records to know what you have already received. If you are insured, check with your insurance to see which vaccines will be covered and where to be immunized. Public Health can offer some vaccines for free to those who qualify. Call 608-266-4821 or check (webpage) for more information and an appointment.
Several pharmacies offer travel vaccines for a fee, as well as surrounding county Health Departments. Prices vary, so you may want to compare pricing before making an appointment. If you are a student, some colleges also provide travel vaccines.
