H1N1 is not the seasonal flu.
- Unlike the seasonal flu, young adults have higher risk for getting very sick with the H1N1 flu and it spreads faster in group settings, such as institutions of higher education.
- This may result in you missing a lot of school or work, having trouble caring for your children if you have them, and increasing the likelihood of passing the flu on to those you love.
The best way to protect yourself from the H1N1 flu is to get vaccinated.
- If you are a student and your school is offering the vaccine, get it!
- If you are not a student and have a healthcare provider, contact them to schedule an appointment to get the vaccine. Many providers have flu lines or information on their websites.
- If you do not have a healthcare provider, call 2-1-1 to find out when and where you can get the vaccine.
