Pre-K Child Care Programs

  • Child CareChildren younger than 5 years of age are at increased risk of complications from the flu; the risk is greater among children less than 2 years old.
  • Children, 6 months through 4 years old, are a high priority for H1N1 vaccine. For availability of vaccine for this high risk group, visit H1N1 Immunization Clinics.
  • Since infants less than 6 months of age are too young to receive the H1N1 influenza vaccine, they are particularly vulnerable and therefore those caring for these children should be vaccinated early.
  • Keep your children home if they have influenza-like symptoms for at least 24 hours after their fever is gone; be sure child gets plenty of rest and fluids.
  • H1N1 Flu symptoms include: fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue; occasionally vomiting and diarrhea.
  • Teach child to cover mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing and to wash hands.
