OBESITY PREVENTION AND PROMOTION OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY & HEALTHY EATING
- Collect and use data to identify needs in communities and certain groups
- Provide assistance to local governments, schools and community organizations, including local data, materials and guidance about effective strategies Obesity Prevention Services to Communities
- Work to increase physical activity opportunities for groups of underserved youth
- Work to increase community access to healthy food, including fresh produce
- Work with community partners and local governments to remove barriers and promote walking and biking Neighborhood / Community Walking and Biking Brochures
- Provide mini-grants and guidance to youth organizations to improve food practices and physical activity offerings
- Provide nutrition guidelines including recommendations for healthy concession operations, community meals, donated food, menus and recipes
- Support community events that promote physical activity, including Ride the Drive, Madison Winter Festival, and fitness activities of our Healthier Communities Network partners
- Screen all children and women enrolled in the WIC Program for overweight / obesity, and provide nutrition education to families receiving public health WIC and perinatal services
