MESSAGE FROM OUR DIRECTOR
The Department of Public Health for Madison and Dane County became a legal entity on January 1, 2008, replacing the Madison Health Department and the Dane County Division of Public Health. We are now a single, unified organization serving everyone in Dane County.

Our basic mission remains to join with partners in the community to promote wellness, prevent disease, and help assure a healthy environment.

There is now a single phone number that will link you to all of our services and programs – (608) 266-4821. For a complete overview of these programs and services, check out our new services brochure, listed under "What’s New".

We have big plans for this website during the first half of 2008. Our goal is to provide you with fully operational, easy to navigate access to all of our programs and services. In the interim, we are providing you with access to the City of Madison Health Department site and the Dane County Division of Public Health sites (see the buttons on top of the portal page). We are currently reorganizing and updating all of that information after which we will post it on this new site and shut down the old websites.

We are particularly excited about a new resource we plan to offer – "Public Access to restaurant inspection information". We are hoping to have this online before the end of this summer.

So I ask you to please pardon our "digital dust" as we move ahead with the construction of this new web resource.
