NEW WALKING & BIKING ROUTES IN MARSHALL
On June 14, 2012, the launch of walking and biking routes in Marshall took place at the Early Learning Center and Elementary School, attended by almost 450 children. Public Health Madison & Dane County worked with a Marshall children's summer program, called the Mighty Marshalls, to identify pedestrian and bicycling hazards (photo mapping) and create 4 bike routes and 2 walking routes for children and adults. The issues identified were discussed with a multidisciplinary group in Marshall (School District; Marshall Parks and Recreation, Police, Public Works, Library and Youth Center; Public Health), and presented to the Village Board. As a result, improvements were made. The route map also highlights the other pedestrian and bike promoting changes that the village of Marshall has made over recent years.
