PHMDC: Safe, Welcoming and Inclusive
Our services are available to all residents and visitors of Madison and Dane County. Citizenship is not required. We promote a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment, and embrace the differences, values and unique qualities of every individual.
We strive to treat everyone equally, respectfully and impartially and provide services regardless of race, color, gender/gender expression, ability, religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, age, or place of birth/place of residence.
Our staff members understand lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) health care needs and the barriers some face in trying to get quality health care. We are committed to client-centered health care that is respectful of and accessible for all, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.
This website uses gender neutral language as much as possible to acknowledge the gender spectrum and to be more inclusive. However, sometimes we use the terms “woman,” “women,” and female gendered pronouns “she” and “her” when information is linked to certain programs such as the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) federal program and subject to their terms, informational materials and guidelines. It is important to recognize, however, that this population also includes people who do not identify as women, including some gender non-conforming people and some transgender men.
