Key Takeaways for the Week of March 19, 2026
- RSV activity is moderate, kids under 4 continue to be the most impacted age group. This week Wisconsin DHS recommended that healthcare providers keep giving the RSV monoclonal antibody to eligible infants through April 30th (an extension from the usual end date of March 31). Extending protection past March 31 can help cover babies born later in the respiratory virus season while RSV is still circulating in the community.
- Flu activity is low, and community spread of flu seems to be slowing down based on healthcare and air sampling data.
- COVID-19 activity is minimal according to emergency department data, though the virus is still spreading in the community; the majority of school air samples have continued to test positive over the past several weeks.
