As COVID-19 continues to impact us locally, we will be closing all Public Health Madison & Dane County offices to the public effective Thursday, March 19, 2020.

Although this decision was not arrived at easily, it is a decision that we needed to make. We are prioritizing preserving the health and safety of our staff and clients while continuing to maintain our ability to provide essential services, including our response to COVID-19.

We will continue providing services through alternate avenues, detailed below, but at this time we are reducing our direct contact with the public.

The Needle Exchange Program will continue to provide service at all office locations. 

  • 2705 E. Washington Ave., Madison: Call (608) 957-5885 when you arrive. Someone will assist you.
  • 2300 S. Park St., Suite 2010, Madison: Call (608) 733-0638 when you arrive. Someone will assist you.
  • 210 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Madison: Call (608) 716-9900 when you arrive. Someone will assist you. 

To reduce the spread of infections, we provide free needles and risk reduction information, and accept used needles for disposal at all offices.


Needle Exchange

Our Needle Exchange services include:

  • New needles and other supplies to help reduce spread of certain infections
  • Confidential needle exchange, no names used
  • Safe disposal of used needles
  • Condoms

HIV and Hepatitis C Testing

Sharing needles or other equipment to inject drugs can spread Hepatitis C. We offer HIV and Hepatitis C testing during our sexual health clinic.

The Sexual & Reproductive Health Clinic has temporarily eliminated in-person client services and will serve clients through other mechanisms. Specifically:

  • Providing limited client services over the phone.
